Abstract
Prof.Akgün Hiçsönmez is one of the two founders of modern pediatric surgery in Turkey. He was born in 1931. He became medical doctor in 1955. He worked in pediatric surgery and pediatric cardiovascular surgery in United States of America between 1961-1963. He founded Hacettepe Department of Pediatric surgery in 1963 and worked there till 1998. He was working in Baskent Univeristy between 2000-2019. He passed away in 14 August 2019.
