Abstract

Rectal irrigation is a widely used intervention in pediatric surgery patients. Although there are several indications for rectal irrigation procedure it has been mainly used in Hirchsprung disease in order to empty the bowels, preparing the child’s bowels for planned procedures and in meconium ileus. In all interventions performed, respecting patients’ privacy and psychological condition is extremely important as performing the procedure using an accurate technique This article adresses the main rectal irrigation procedures and intervention steps.
