Abstract

Aim: The aim of this paper is to evaluate and discuss the results of an Iranian manuscript published in Iranian Journal of Pediatric Surgery (2018, 1st issue) by NK Tabari and AK Tabari.

Material and Method: The above mentioned manuscript, databases such as PubMed, SCOPUS and ISI were investigated.

Results: According to the results of investigations of last 25-year period of 3 main databases, Turkish Pediatric surgeons sems to have the highest number of publications.Besides their number of citations and citations per publication was higher than the other 3 countries.

Conclusions: These data are source of pride for the pediatric surgeons of our country. However during the recent years number, and quality of publications have entered into a period of stagnation, changes made in the system of examinatiosn for associate professorships, loss of motivation of pediatric surgeons carry the risk of losing this superiority.For that reason, necessary preventive interventions, and measures should be taken so as to be able to preclude this risk.
