Abstract

Aim: In this study, it was aimed to present the results of circumcision with the help of device called diathermic knife or thermocauthery and to contribute to literature of circumcision in order to meet intense circumcision request in and around the province of Kahramanmaraş.

Material and Method: Between January 2012 and January 2016, a total of 2973 patients underwent circumcision under general anesthesia using guillotine method and preserving glans using a diathermic knife. The mean age was 25.1 months.

Results: Mean operative time was 6,5 min. Bleeding was seen in four patients as leakage. None of the patients had circumcision-related infections and surgical injuries. In one patient, secondary phimosis developed and after 6 months it was re-operated and corrected.

Conclusion: Circumcision must be done by doctors in health institutions. The intense demand in spring months brings both fast and safe methods to the fore. Circumcision with diathermic knife is practical and safe when considering complication rate and duration of operation.
