Abstract

Bronchoscopy which is used both as a diagnostic, and therapeutic method has become a safe and easily applicable diagnostic and therapeutic intervention due to increased experience, developed technology and anesthetic techniques. Thus relevant complication rates decreased. It can be performed as rigid or flexible bronchoscopy. Bronchoscopy is commonly used for foreign body aspiration which may cause severe morbidity or even mortality in children. However bronchoscopy is also used frequently for the diagnosis and treatment of miscellaneous congenital or acquired diseases which effect respiratory functions. Bu çalışmada, çocuklarda kullanım sıklığı giderek artan bronkoskopinin endikasyonlarının, kullanılan ekipman ve anestezi yöntemlerinin, komplikasyonlarının ve sonuçlarının tartışılması amaçlanmıştır. The aim of this study is to discuss the indications of bronchoscopy which has been used frequently in children, equipment used, anesthetic methods, its complications and results.
