Abstract

Torsion of appendix epiploica is an uncommon cause of acute abdomen usually encountered by 2-5 decades of life. It is classified as primary and secondary appendix epiploica torsion. Although the primary diagnosis depends on computed tomography (CT), less commonly ultrasonography (US) and magnetic resonance (MR) are also utilized for the diagnosis. According to patient’s clinical status conservative or surgical treatment is suggested. In this case report, a 12-year-old boy who was admitted with the complaint of left lower quadrant abdominal pain and diagnosed as primary appendix epiploica torsion is presented. Conservative approach was the treatment of choice. The patient was discharged with cure by the third day of hospitalization.
