Abstract

Characterized by nonthrombocytopenic purpura accompanied by arthritis/arthralgia, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary system involvement, Henoch-Schönlein purpura is the most common form of vasculitis in childhood. Associated scrotal involvement is very rare in patients with genitourinary system involvement. Acute scrotum, epididymitis, orchitis, testicular torsion should be considered in the differential diagnosis of scrotal involvement. In this paper, we report an eight-year-old case admitted with acute scrotum due to Henoch-Schönlein purpura. Complete recovery was achieved with prednisolone therapy (1 mg/kg/day) in 48 hours. In conclusion, a short-term steroid therapy can be considered in patients with scrotal involvement of HenochSchönlein purpura due to the rapid response.
