Abstract

Intraductal papillomatosis usually occurs after the adolescent period and it is rarely malignant. Excision of an upper outer quadrant right breast mass approximately 4x2 cm in size in a 14-year-old female patient was performed in a pediatric surgery unit. Pathologic examination revealed fibromuscular stroma around the complex branching papillary structures and foci of papilloma which were composed of two rows of ductal epithelium. Ductal cells had oval contours. The lesion was evaluated as an intraductal papillomatosis by the department of pathology. The case was reported due to the rarity of the condition in adolescent period and presentation with a mass instead of bloody nipple discharge. Intraductal papillomatosis should be considered in differential diagnosis of breast masses in adolescent period even if there is no bloody nipple discharge.
