Abstract

Our country is an endemic region for hydatid cyst disease. Hydatid cyst disease is a serious problem in Eastern Anatolia. This disease involves most frequently the liver and lung, however it can be seen in all tissues of the body. General approach to treatment of splenic hydatid cyst is splenectomy. But recently, spleen protective treatments have been recommended. We present a 13-year-old male patient with multiorgan involvement with hydatid disease whose splenic lesion was treated with percutaneous drainage. Considering results in our case, percutaneous drainage of splenic hydatid disease in children is apparently an appropriate treatment option.
