Abstract

Intussusception is a common cause of intestinal obstruction in children. We have reported a rare case of chronic intussusception. A 3- year old boy with complaints of abdominal pain, vomiting and weight loss persisting for six months was operated with preliminary diagnosis of intussusception and intestinal mass (lymphoma?). During operation, an approximately 7x7 cm mass at the caecum and an ileocaecocolic intususseption were found. The mass which was removed by surgical intervention was histopathologically diagnosed as Burkitt lymphoma Burkitt lenfoma is not a common cause of chronic intussusception. By reporting clinical findings of the patient and his treatment we aimed to attract attention to this rare condition.
