Abstract
A 3-month-old boy with intestinal obstruction is presented to emphasize diagnostic and management features of Treves’ field hernia (TFH). The patient whose X-ray revealed large-based air-fluid levels, and his ultrasonography demonstrated a cystic lesion extending from bladder to umbilicus was operated. Ileal segments herniated through ileal mesenteric defect were reduced. A mesenteric cyst was present at 110 cm of ileum. Since perfusion of ileal segments was decreased, ileostomy was performed and closed after 1 month. He was discharged uneventfully. This is the first case with TFH associated with mesenteric cyst. Coincidence with mesenteric cyst may cause challenges in diagnosis. TFH should be kept in mind in cases with intestinal obstruction.
