Abstract

Burn is a soft tissue injury caused by high temperature, chemicals, radiation and electricity. Nutritional function and nutritional needs of patients with burns should be monitored closely in order to prevent higher rates of infection, longer hospital stays, and sequelae that may occur in the future. Following severe burn injuries, aggressive nutritional support is recommended. Burn is an injury that enteral nutrition is more useful. Gastric enteral nutrition is known to increase the chances for successful treatment even in the major burns.

Nutritional support in burn injuries is vital to accelerate wound healing, reduce catabolism and mortality/morbidity rates.
