Most of the childhood solid tumors can metastasize to lungs. Lung metastases can be detected at the time of diagnosis, however in some cases they can be seen during the advanced stages of the disease. Metastasectomies are performed to diagnose the persistent nodules after chemotherapy and radiotherapy or to control the local disease to increase survival . The effect of metastatectomies on survival changes in different tumors. Lung metastatectomies in children are commonly performed for osteosarcoma, Wilms’ tumor and other soft tissue sarcomas. In this review, it is aimed to present the principles of lung metastasectomies in children and its impact on survival rates in different tumors.
