Abstract

Primary lung tumors are very rare and accounts 2% of all pediatric tumors in childhood. When lung masses were evaluated in children , the ratio of primary to metastatic and inflammatory and/or congenital lesions was 1:5:60. Although pulmonary tumors show similar histopathological features with adult lung cancer, the incidence, behavior and outcome of childhood pulmonary tumors differ than those of adults. Since pediatric lung tumors are rare and World Health Organization defined new histopathological types, with reclassification, and renamed previously considered benign tumors as malignancies have changed the information about the incidence and behavioral characteristics of lung tumors in childhood In this review, it is aimed to evaluate the clinical features, diagnostic methods, treatment alternatives and the results of surgical treatment of childhood pulmonary and chest wall tumors.
