Abstract
Fifteen year-old female patient presented with abdominal pain and weight loss. Clinical initial diagnosis was tuberculosis and antituberculosis treatment was started. Patient did not respond antituberculosis treatment, therefore laparotomy was performed and carcinomatosis peritonei-like appearance was observed. Histopathological examination revealed extensive granulomatous peritonitis against ascaris eggs. Ascaris can result in obstruction, perforation in gastrointestinal system and peritonitis. Ascaris lumbricoides is a parasitic infection resulting in different clinical pictures in poorly developed or developing countries. It should be considered in differential diagnosis of unexplained granulomatous peritonitis cases. We herein present a case of granulomatous peritonitis caused by Ascaris lumbricoides displaying interesting clinical and pathological observations.
