Abstract

Isolated tracheoesophageal fistula is an infrequent congenital anomaly which is seen in only 4% of tracheo-esophageal malformations. Isolated tracheoesophageal fistula is presented with cyanosis and choking during the feeding, and recurrent chest infections and abdominal distention. Various methods that have been applied to prove the presence of a suspicious isolated tracheoesophageal fistula: contrast esophagography, cine-esophagography and bronchoscopy. In this report, two infants with isolated tracheoesophageal fistula diagnosed by cine-esophagography are presented.
