Abstract
Methemoglobinemia is rare cause for noncardiac cyanosis. Methylene blue (MB) is used for variable diagnostic investigations by virtue of its staining properties and is also a wellaccepted therapeutic agent to treat methemoglobinemia. Side effects are rare with its use. This presentation describes a neonate who developed methemoglobinemia, hemolytic anemia, hyperbilirubinemia and acute renal failure after enteral administration of MB and defines the treatment modality employed.
