Abstract

Ingestion of disc batteries by children have become more frequent in recent years, due to the increasing usage of electronic toys and devices. Unlike the usual foreign bodies, ingestion of disc batteries may be associated with serious complications if not removed early. We report two cases of tracheoesophageal fistula secondary to disc battery ingestion and discuss their presentation, clinical course and conservative treatment resulting in their spontaneous closure.
