Abstract

AVentriculoperitoneal (VP) shunting is the most common method used in the treatment of most types of hydrocephalus. VP shunt complications such as catheter infection or obstruction, abdominal pseudocyst formation, and catheter dysfunction are common, while free migration of the distal catheter into the abdomen is rare. Due to the reasons such as the need for smaller incisions compared to laparotomy, better visualization of the inside of the abdomen, shorter operation time and cosmetic superiority; three cases in which we removed the peritoneal distal peritoneal catheters that were disconnected and fell into the abdomen by laparoscopic method will be presented.
