Abstract

Environmental factors affect human development starting from antenatal life. Many diseases ocur because of these factors. In this review, we aimed to discuss the effects of environmental factors and enviromental endocrine distrupting chemicals on genitourinary system. Endocrine distrupting chemicals reach human beings with air, water and food. With scientific studies and the experience gained from environmental disasters, we have learned that with the distruption of hormonal balance, urethral anomalies and undescended testis occur in boys and in adult male individuals problems in sperm count and quality can be seen. We can see that the estrogenic or antiandrogenic effects of these chemicals predominate. When we consider these effects with other enviromental factors, with the understanding of these facts, we can prevent the unwanted side effects of these factors that adversely affect human health.
