Abstract

Today numerous operations in pediatric urology. can be done successfully and safely with minimally invasive techniques. Most of these operations are performed for nonpalpable testes. Laparoscopy is superior over radiological imaging methods in the diagnosis and localization of nonpalpable testes. Recently, one or two-staged laparoscopic orchiopexies have been commonly applied for intraabdominal testes. Another area for which laparoscopy is frequently used in pediatric urology is varicocele surgery. Although there is no consensus on the ideal surgical technique for varicosele, results of the laparoscopic varicocele surgery are comparable with other techniques.

In conclusion, laparoscopy is a commonly preferred, efficacious and safe method for both non-palpable testes and varicocele surgery.
